Getting Started in the Pro Bass Fishing Game

What angler young or old, male or female hasn’t been sitting by a warm sunny lake fishing and thinking, this is the life for me and I got paid to do this? There are not many anglers that I know of including myself haven’t wondered at one time, how to get into the pro bass fishing game.

Let me first express that the pro bass fishing game is indeed no game. It takes dedication, time and money to become a pro bass angler, and like any job you must have the right tools for the right job. This doesn’t mean that the only thing you need to play the pro bass fishing game is money and the right equipment because nothing is further from the truth.

It would be nice to have thousands of dollars to spend on a fishing boat and it would be nice to have top of the line rod, reel and lures but that’s not what makes it in the pro bass fishing game. Knowledge, attitude, and perseverance are only a few things that it takes. You can take your fifty thousand dollar boat with all the bells and whistles but if you don’t know where or how to get the fish but the guy with the row boat does, well guess who’s going to catch the fish?

Where to Start

My suggestion to you is to get a mentor, someone that can show you the proper way to play the pro bass fishing game. If you don’t know anyone then read everything you can about bass and how to catch them.

Enter any and all tournaments that come your way within reason of course. I don’t expect you to fly to North Carolina if you live in California and I don’t expect you to quit your day job for a fishing tournament.

However if you want to be in the pro bass fishing game then some sacrifices are going to be necessary. Entering a tournament can be costly, some can cost hundreds of dollars and some cost as little as ten dollars. Spend what you can afford but enter.

Who can become a Pro Bass Angler

Like you were told as a child you can grow up to be anything you want as long as you put your mind to it. The same is true for the pro bass fishing game. It doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, young or old, handicapped or healthy; you can become a pro bass angler and play the pro bass fishing game.
